Bună tuturor! Sunt Raluca. Hi everybody! I’m Raluca.
Welcome to RomanianPod101.com’s Româna în 3 minute. The fastest, easiest, and most fun way to learn Romanian.
In the last lesson, you learned how to use the verb a merge, which means "to go" in Romanian.
In this lesson, you’ll continue learning common Romanian verbs.
This time we’ll learn more about a face, which means "to do", or “to make”. You’ll see how it can be used in many different situations.
So imagine someone asks you ¿Ce faci?
That means "What are you doing?"
So if you are doing your homework, for example, you will say in Romanian Fac temele.
[slowly] Fac temele.
Let’s break down this answer.
First we had fac, which is "I am doing."
It’s the 1st person form of the verb a face, which is “to do", in the present tense.
Then, we had temele which is a plural noun meaning "homework."
Let’s see some more examples.
Fac de mâncare. is “I’m preparing the meal.”
Fac treabă în garaj. is “I’m working in the garage.”
As you can see, a face has different meanings beyond “to do”.
So now, let’s take a look at what can you say with this verb a face in Romanian.
It is one of the most useful verbs in Romanian – you can use it in almost every sentence!
It can mean “to prepare” as we saw earlier, but it can also stand for "to make" as in Fac o prăjitură which means “I’m making a cake.”
Sometimes, it can also mean "to gain or to earn" as in Fac bani din meditații which is "I earn money from tutoring."
It can also replace a lot of other verbs, for example "to buy" as in Fac cumpărături which is "I’m shopping." Or “to clean” as in Fac curățenie which is "I’m cleaning."
Now it’s time for Raluca’s Insights.
In Romanian, we often say ¿Ce faci în seara asta? which means “What are you doing tonight?” to ask about plans.
If you are with some friends at night and you haven't decided your plans yet, ask them! ¿Ce facem în seara asta?
In this lesson, you learned how to use the verb a face in many different contexts and I’m sure it will help you a lot!
Next time, we’ll learn some more verbs I know you’ll like: a place and a iubi.
Do you know what these Romanian verbs mean? I’ll be waiting for you with the answer in the next Româna în 3 minute lesson.
Pe curând! See you soon!
